The 5th Air Force was apart of the Army Air Force overseeing the Southern Pacific. It was crucial for the Defense of Australia, The Philippines, and New Guinea. It also helped with Major Offenses in the Pacific such as Liberation of the Philippines and the Battle of Okinawa
