Two B-17 Flying Fortresses from the 65th Bomb Squadron launched a frontline bombing mission at 0400 hours. Their passage through the night remained uninterrupted, concealed by the darkness of the night, rendering it nearly impossible for enemy fighters to pinpoint their location. In the aftermath of this precision bombing run, a platoon of paratroopers from the 11th Airborne Division will be preparing for their combat drop to take advantage of the softened enemy defenses.
