11th Airborne Division Destorys Japanese Artillery Position

A company of the 11th Airborne Division dropped into the area, entrenching themselves on a mountain to defend from the waves of Japanese who were ready to intercept them in their drop zone. Overwhelmed by the numbers, a B17E was called to bomb the incoming Japanese, but it was intercepted by a Zero, in a miracle the bomber managed to drop its bomb before crashing. Dogfights lasted throughout the entire mission as the Japanese planes were focused on stopping the advances of the Airborne. In the next morning the company moved to flank the battery with some resistance, they reached a mountain south of their original position and began their assault on the battery with grenades, clearing out the area before destroying the artillery pieces.

  • 6 Airborne personnel killed,
  • 1 B-17E Lost,
  • 3 P-40F-10 Lost,
  • Heavy Japanese Casualties,
  • 6 Zeros Lost
