Four B-17E were deployed to bomb the Japanese controlled city of Rabaul, the mission had a rocky start as the japanese fighters caught the formation off guard, they managed the damage three of the B-17, before friendly P40s scared them away, the Zeros were chased down and destroyed, allowing the bombers to continue and finish the mission
